I am passionate about social justice
and equitable public policy.

In her role as a public health consultant and project coordinator, Jelena works alongside the technical team to ensure accurate data analysis, facilitate work flow, and assist with survey design, writing, research, and evaluation, supporting our team in efficiently and effectively meeting project goals.

Jelena brings a particular depth of experience in mental health and women’s health.

She has worked with several NGOs, including the Canadian Mental Health Association, the Burnaby Homelessness Task Force, and Universities Allied for Essential Medicines, and has more than six years of experience in the mental health field, including as an instructor therapist at the Glen Eden Multimodal Centre.

Currently, Jelena is conducting research into mental health indicators and standards of practice for identifying and caring for perinatal women with mental illness.

Jelena completed a Bachelor of Arts in Health Sciences from Simon Fraser University with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies and graduated with a Master of Public Health from the University of British Columbia in 2016, where she focused on global health, public policy, harm reduction, and epidemiology.
