Jelena is responsible for overseeing and guiding our team of research assistants in conducting literature reviews, identifying and communicating with diverse stakeholders, developing data collection tools, carrying out data collection, performing data analysis, and writing reports.
As a project manager, Jelena works closely with our clients to ensure clarity around project development, facilitating communication between clients and our teams to make sure that projects meet objectives and stay on budget and on schedule.
In these key roles, Jelena sets high standards, both for herself and those around her, prizing authenticity, vision, connection, integrity, equity, and courage. We wouldn’t have it any other way. Besides, she is the queen of karaoke, and if her one-liners aren’t quotes already, they should be.
Having worked on various creative and research projects with clients that include B.C. health authorities, municipal governments, and national and international organizations, Jelena has led and conducted numerous health-related studies involving direct work and on-the-ground engagement with communities and community organizations.
Jelena brings to Be the Change Group a particular depth of experience in mental health via advocacy, frontline, and research capacities. In addition to being a published researcher on the topic of mental health indicators and standards of practice for identifying and caring for perinatal women with mental illness, her background in mental health includes four years of experience in child and youth frontline mental health work as an instructor therapist.
Jelena holds a BA in Health Sciences (with distinction) with a minor in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies from Simon Fraser University, and a Master of Public Health from the University of British Columbia, where she focused on global health, public policy, and epidemiology.
